In 2013, Georgia Tech considered options to provide desktop/web conferencing services to campus and decided on the Cisco WebEx service, providing on-demand, real-time, collaborative web meetings and conferencing to faculty, staff and students. The campus-wide license provides unlimited usage to schedule meetings for anyone to participate or present and provides 24x7 Cisco technical support. To start a conference or learn more, visit the GT WebEx launch page below:
WebEx allows you to:
- Share your desktop and files such as PowerPoint presentations
- Stream live Voice over IP (VoIP) and webcam video
- Collaborate using chat and whiteboards
- Poll participants attending meeting
- Mark up shared documents
- Record and archive the meeting for future reference (faculty/staff only)
WebEx works with PC, Mac, and Linux, and has apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry. Participants can connect from their desktop, laptop, smartphone, or iPad, and it's easy to record meetings for later viewing. Unlimited Voice over IP (VoIP) is included.
