WHAT'S HAPPENING?
OIT has implemented a new operating system update service for managed macOS systems. Starting today, March 11th, if your system is not fully updated, a pop-up notification will be displayed prompting users to update their system. Users may update or defer updates to a later time. This initial update may be deferred until April 10th.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
The changes were rolled out today March 11, 2025 and will be ongoing. Once your system needs updates, you will be prompted and a new 30-day grace period will begin for your update.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
To improve MacOS endpoint compliance by implementing a new update system that keeps OSs and software up to date for security.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users of TSO managed MacOS systems.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
You will need to initiate, defer, or schedule the initial update according to the linked guide using your mac user credentials. When the 30-day grace period has ended, the system will automatically update once it's powered on and connected to a network. Please be aware this auto-update may be disruptive to your workflow. If you are unable to allow the update to happen before the deadline, please reach out to the TSO Help Desk.
