TSO has re-engineered it's managed Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 load to use a more lightweight approach and would like to help you reload your research lab systems so you are on the latest technology. Due to popular demand, TSO has also developed a beta load of Ubuntu Linux 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope). Both of the new Linux loads can be installed using unattended network methods, both authenticate against CoC Active Directory (your CoC Windows password), NFS mount your home directory, and more. Research Lab Managers are granted root access on the new loads and end-users can be granted these privileges with Lab Manager approval as well. The new supported Linux loads incorporate well-established, open-source technology called Puppet and you may hear TSO refer to them as our puppetized Linux. TSO has already reinstalled several resources including HPC clusters, the Killerbee cluster, new research group servers, etc. using the new RHEL5 load. When you are ready to schedule the installation of the new loads on your Linux system, use our online request form. A TSO staff member will be in subsequent contact to work out any details and schedule the installation.
