OIT has implemented a new operating system update service for managed macOS systems. Starting March 11th, 2025 if your system is not fully updated, a pop-up notification will be displayed prompting users to update their system. Users may update or defer updates to a later time. This initial update may be deferred until April 10th, 2025.

After this initial update, any additional system updates will follow the same notification process and may be deferred for up to 30 days.

Notification pop-ups will appear with the following options allowing an update time to be selected or scheduled.

You can update now (Restart Now), defer for a short period of up to 24 hours, or schedule a date and time to apply the update.

Schedule Update

To schedule an update at a later time, select the time and date and if prompted, provide your local user credentials. This will schedule the update and system reboot.

Apple Silicon users may be asked to enter their password.

 

Past Deferment Deadline Pop-Up

If a system exceeds the deferment deadline due to continued deferral or being powered off, the following notifications will occur and updates will be made.
